About Us
The Society for Prevention of Cruelty to People, through its various divisions, works against the pervasive meanness we encounter just about everywhere in our culture. Besides this Workplace Division we work on behalf of fairness for children, seniors, students, people in public life, and the poor. (Please see our Links Page for more information and direct access to the various websites.)

Too many people hate to go to work each day because of mistreatment by bosses or fellow workers. Too many lie awake nights worrying over whether--or how long--they can keep at their jobs. The Scottish poet Robert Burns said, "Man's inhumanity to man makes countless thousands mourn." There's plenty of inhumanity and more than enough mourning in society as it is; we don't need to add to the burden at work. Simple humanity cries for us to do something about it when we can. But it's not just working people we save when we create a nurturing workplace. It's also the business itself. Studies show clearly that happy workers are more productive.

They also do not:

  • Sabotage your business.
  • Create turnover problems.
  • Drag others down (fellow workers and customers).

Instead, they become your best assets.
